FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
The Y strives to provide the most thorough consideration and assistance to those experiencing financial hardship. Financial assistance is funded generously by donors in our community to help bridge the gap between the cost of a membership and a family’s own resources. All Y members can feel confident knowing they are a part of an organization that cares greatly for the well-being of all people in the community from all backgrounds.
Membership Financial Assistance
If you’ve been thinking that you can’t afford to be part of the Y, think again! At the YMCA of Youngstown, we welcome everyone’s involvement by providing financial assistance. It’s an important part of our mission.
How do I apply?
Complete in full the Financial Assistance application; attach one month of current paystubs for household and copy of the first 1-3 pages from the most recent Federal Income Tax return (must include adjusted gross income and dependents). Return in person to the membership office or by mail to the Y branch you wish to join. All applications are kept confidential.
Child Care Financial Assistance
Assistance helps ensure children have access to safe, nurturing environments where they can learn, build confidence, and develop strong relationships. Financial Assistance is available to help families access YMCA youth programs, including:
- Preschool
- After School and Off-School
- Day Camp
- Enrichment Camps
TANF Financial Assistance
TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) is a grant program funded by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.
Where do the funds for financial assistance come from?
Financial assistance for YMCA membership and youth programs is made possible through the generosity of donors in our community.
Because of their support, we are able to reduce financial barriers and ensure more children, families and individuals can participate in YMCA programs. The YMCA is a community built on caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. As part of that shared commitment, we ask every family receiving assistance to contribute an amount they are able to pay toward membership or program fees.
When each of us invests what we can, we strengthen our collective impact and help keep the Y accessible to everyone who needs us.
