Y ON THE FLY
What is Y on the Fly?
Y on the Fly provides a mobile “Y without walls” experience, bringing Y services, programs, and activities into the community. This initiative gives the Y the opportunity to connect with partners to offer support to those in need. With two Y on the Fly buses, the transportation barrier is reduced, allowing expanded reach in our communities.
What are we doing now?
Transporting Youngstown City School’s second graders to swim lessons at the Y
Providing transportation to After School at the Y
Collaborating with YSU to deliver Y programs at Youngstown City Parks for recreation and instructional sports
Planning trips for senior citizens
Delivering Y gym class to students at Potential Development Schools
What have we done?
Served Youngstown City Parks and Recreation day camp with Y Sports programming.
Developed Y Soccer Leagues at Youngstown City Parks.
Provided Summer Sweat Series Y fitness classes in collaboration with Southern Park Mall.
Partnered with Youngstown City Health District to expand Y on the Fly to better address the social determinants of health.
