CENTRAL YMCA GALA ... REGISTER TODAY!

Good Friday “Virtual” Service April 2, 2021

Due to the pandemic, the YMCA of Youngstown’s Spiritual Emphasis Committee will present our annual Good Friday Service virtually on April 2, 2021.  The service will be videotaped and a link to view it will be emailed to all YMCA members and guests.  Please make sure Patty has your email address if you are not a YMCA member (ptchoryk@youngstownymca.org).  Also, the video will be placed on our Central YMCA Facebook page on Friday, April 2, 2021, at 9:00 a.m.

Bishop David Bonnar will deliver this year’s Good Friday message.  Rev. David Bonnar was ordained as Diocese of Youngstown bishop on January 12, 2021.  Bishop Bonnar became the sixth bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Youngstown.  Bishop Bonnar was appointed by Pope Francis on November 17. He was pastor of St. Aidan Parish, Wexford, Pennsylvania, was born in Pittsburgh, and ordained to the priesthood July 23, 1988. He served as a parochial vicar at St. Vitus, New Castle; St. Rosalia, Greenfield; and St. Thomas More, Bethel Park. He served as pastor of St. Bartholomew, Penn Hills, and St. Bernard, Mount Lebanon. He also served as administrator of Our Lady of Grace, Scott Township. For 12 years, Bishop Bonnar was chaplain of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

If you purchased a table in 2020 and kept your table for this year, please know that we will guarantee your table for the 2022 Good Friday Breakfast Service! Thank you so much for continuing to support the YMCA of Youngstown by keeping the “C” in the YMCA.

Father, when I consider the sacrifice Jesus made on my behalf, I am humbled and deeply grateful. Thank You Jesus and thank You for the cross. We are hopeful you will join us virtually to commemorate the passion, crucifixion, death, and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. There is no Easter without Good Friday. God Bless you.

Sincerely,

Thomas M. Gacse

SPECIAL EVENTS

Camp Fitch YMCA Polar Bear Plunge

Cost should never be the reason a child cannot attend Camp Fitch YMCA. To turn that mission into reality, Camp Fitch has hosted their annual Polar Bear Plunge for the last 15 years! Staff, alumni, campers, and anyone else who wants to join the cause jump into the icy waters of Lake Erie with the same purpose: to give the life-changing opportunity of camp to kids who would otherwise be unable to afford. All are welcome to join the fun (without any pressure to jump in Lake Erie)! We will have food, games, and raffles for everyone to participate in.

Davis Family YMCA Golf Outing

The Davis Family YMCA is committed to strengthening the foundations of our community. For 13 years we have hosted the annual golf outing, raising funds to ensure that YMCA programs and membership opportunities are accessible for all, regardless of financial means. Whether you’re a seasoned golfer or trying it for the first time, this event is a hole-in-one for fun, fellowship, and community impact! Swing by for a day of golf, great company, and the chance to support the charitable work of the YMCA of Youngstown.

Central YMCA Gala

Join us for the First Annual Central Gala, where we’ll come together to celebrate the impact we’re making in our community. The theme for this year’s event, A Better Future Starts with You, will highlight the YMCA’s ongoing mission to strengthen our community through programs that promote healthy living, youth development, and social responsibility. The event will take place on September 25, 2025, from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM at the Maronite Center. Please wear your semi-formal evening attire that reflects the elegance of the occasion and the spirit of connection we nurture at the Y. This is a chance to make a lasting difference while enjoying an evening filled with hope, impact, and inspiration. We look forward to sharing this experience with you!
