Free 3-Week Summer Challenge Launches July 12 Nationwide, Rediscover sunshine, optimism, and what it means to live Summer Out Loud

Youngstown, Ohio (June 23, 2021) – The YMCA’s free three-week Summer Out Loud Family Challenge begins July 12. Opt-in to the Challenge today by texting “SUMMER” to 877-799-6220.  

After registering, participants will visit the Davis Family YMCA or the Central YMCA location to pick up their Summer Out Loud passport filled with creative ideas and activities to do together with their family this July. Participation in the Summer Out Loud Challenge also earns participants a one-day Family Guest Pass to enjoy at either the Davis Family YMCA in Boardman or the Central YMCA in Youngstown.

To be eligible for the national grand prize, a family vacation (up to $5000 value) or a local grand prize, a one-year YMCA of Youngstown family membership, participants must opt-in to the Challenge and complete and return the passport to their local Y by Wednesday, August 4. The grand prize winner will be announced on Friday, August 13.

Camp Fitch YMCA Polar Bear Plunge

Cost should never be the reason a child cannot attend Camp Fitch YMCA. To turn that mission into reality, Camp Fitch has hosted their annual Polar Bear Plunge for the last 15 years! Staff, alumni, campers, and anyone else who wants to join the cause jump into the icy waters of Lake Erie with the same purpose: to give the life-changing opportunity of camp to kids who would otherwise be unable to afford. All are welcome to join the fun (without any pressure to jump in Lake Erie)! We will have food, games, and raffles for everyone to participate in.

Davis Family YMCA Golf Outing

The Davis Family YMCA is committed to strengthening the foundations of our community. For 13 years we have hosted the annual golf outing, raising funds to ensure that YMCA programs and membership opportunities are accessible for all, regardless of financial means. Central YMCA Gala

Join us for the First Annual Central Gala, where we’ll come together to celebrate the impact we’re making in our community. The theme for this year’s event, A Better Future Starts with You, will highlight the YMCA’s ongoing mission to strengthen our community through programs that promote healthy living, youth development, and social responsibility. The event will take place on September 25, 2025, from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM at the Maronite Center. Please wear your semi-formal evening attire that reflects the elegance of the occasion and the spirit of connection we nurture at the Y.
