A healthy start is a perfect goal no matter what age you are and there’s no better place to get started than at one of your local YMCAs.
The Davis Family YMCA in Boardman and the Central YMCA in downtown Youngstown are both full of events, programs, lessons, and classes all year long no matter what the season.
And the YMCA of Youngstown can also boast big-time longevity in the Valley. “We’ve been in the community for over 140 years, starting with our YMCA downtown Youngstown and then Camp Fitch YMCA came a few years later,” said Chris Hughes, YMCA of Youngstown Director of Talent and Risk Management. “Then in 2003, our Davis family YMCA here in Boardman.”
The YMCA of Youngstown also has a long history of being a nonprofit organization.
“That means that we are not for profit. We are a charitable organization, and we have financial assistance available for families or individuals who need a YMCA experience in their life buy maybe can’t afford to pay,” said Hughes. “There’s actually a couple of different ways people can apply. Individuals and families can apply for financial assistance for just a membership. There’s also programming. You don’t have to actually be a member to participate in YMCA programs.” …
