NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR D’AUNDRAY (DRE) BROWN FEATURED ON WFMJ

Central YMCA names D’Aundray ‘Dre’ Brown as Executive Director

The Central YMCA in Downtown Youngstown has named D’Aundray “Dre” Brown as its new Executive Director effective April 5, 2023. 

According to a press release from the Central YMCA, Brown has served as the Central Y’s Sports & Recreation Director since February of 2021, and before that was involved with the facility as a volunteer. 

In 2022, Brown joined the YMCA of Youngstown’s Senior Leadership Team as Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Officer. He will continue to serve in this position. 

YMCA of Youngstown President and CEO, Tom Gace says Brown is the “perfect fit” to lead Central YMCA stating that he has deep roots in the Youngstown Community.

“(Brown) has a unique vantage point on the youth served at the Y because he was one of those kids. He has proven adaptability to differing cultural and business environments.” Gasce said.

Camp Fitch YMCA Polar Bear Plunge

Cost should never be the reason a child cannot attend Camp Fitch YMCA. To turn that mission into reality, Camp Fitch has hosted their annual Polar Bear Plunge for the last 15 years! Staff, alumni, campers, and anyone else who wants to join the cause jump into the icy waters of Lake Erie with the same purpose: to give the life-changing opportunity of camp to kids who would otherwise be unable to afford. All are welcome to join the fun (without any pressure to jump in Lake Erie)! We will have food, games, and raffles for everyone to participate in.

The Davis Family YMCA is committed to strengthening the foundations of our community. For 13 years we have hosted the annual golf outing, raising funds to ensure that YMCA programs and membership opportunities are accessible for all, regardless of financial means.
