YMCA Swimmers Looking Towards Nationals in March

Local YMCA Swimmers making a splash at the national level

 The YMCA of Youngstown’s swim team has big goals to qualify multiple swimmers for the 2022 National Championships coming up in March, which seems like a real possibility for the squad.

The team is made up of 130 swimmers ranging from 5 years old to 18 years old. They practice 6 days a week in the pool for about 2 hours and 3 days a week out of the pool.

“This hard work and dedication with a desire to succeed here everyday” says Coach Terry might just be the recipe for this team.

They already have 7 swimmers on the team that are ranked in the top 16 in the country, but their sights are set on qualifying for the Championships in North Carolina.

Our whole Y family is behind them routing them on, good luck swimmers.

Camp Fitch YMCA Polar Bear Plunge

Cost should never be the reason a child cannot attend Camp Fitch YMCA. To turn that mission into reality, Camp Fitch has hosted their annual Polar Bear Plunge for the last 15 years! Staff, alumni, campers, and anyone else who wants to join the cause jump into the icy waters of Lake Erie with the same purpose: to give the life-changing opportunity of camp to kids who would otherwise be unable to afford. All are welcome to join the fun (without any pressure to jump in Lake Erie)! We will have food, games, and raffles for everyone to participate in.

The Davis Family YMCA is committed to strengthening the foundations of our community. For 13 years we have hosted the annual golf outing, raising funds to ensure that YMCA programs and membership opportunities are accessible for all, regardless of financial means.
