Safety Around The Water

The world is 71% water, and children are 100% curious. That is exactly why the YMCA of Youngstown will kick off this summer with its annual Safety Around Water Program for children ages 6-18 and their families over a 2-week period. This program is FREE and open to the community, thanks to a grant provided by the United Way of Mahoning Valley. The program will have two distinct parts and require registration.

SAFETY AROUND WATER PROGRAM

Splash Into Summer

Part 1 of the Safety Around Water program runs May 30 to June 2 at the Davis Family YMCA, from 5:30-7:30 PM. Topics will include danger recognition, backyard pool safety, open water safety, survival skills, and basic rescue skills. Registration will be for one day only (same program is provided each day). Participants will be permitted to stay until 8:00pm to swim in the outdoor pool.  REGISTER HERE

Community Swim Lessons

Part 2 of the Safety Around Water program runs June 5 to 9 at the Central YMCA, from 6:30 – 7:30 PM. Sessions are targeted toward non-swimmers and will focus on basic swim and survival skills. Parents of participating children will be invited to learn to swim in an adult group. Registration is for all five days.  REGISTER HERE

Our intention is to reach 300 children ages 6-18 and their families during these two weeks to educate them about water safety so they can safely enjoy the water this summer.
